Saudi Arabia’s Falak Research Mission Successfully Launched into Space

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Falak Space and Research nonprofit has successfully launched its pioneering space research mission aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The mission, called "Fram2," marks the first Arab-led nonprofit research mission to space and aims to revolutionize space medicine, particularly astronaut eye health protocols.

The mission will conduct over 20 scientific experiments, including the first X-ray photography in space and mushroom cultivation in microgravity, with potential implications for future Mars missions.

The crew includes four astronauts from diverse fields: crypto entrepreneur Chon Wang, film director Janicke Mikkelsen, polar explorer Eric Philips, and robotics researcher Rabia Ruge.

The capsule will orbit both the North and South Poles, offering unique experimental conditions over a three- to five-day period.
